The eyes of the world witnessed the brilliant Islamic Republic of Iran upon the historical Islamic Revolution during an era of ultimate competition between both grand powers: the United States and the former Soviet Union. What is interesting, however, is that this Revolution formed a third line independent from any of these powers.

The victorious Revolution was succeeded by the Islamic Republic that maintained an independence hardly ever found... During that stage, the mere thriving away from both of the dominating influences in the world represented an accomplishment. Adopting the slogan "Neither Eastern nor Western", the Islamic Republic of Iran flourished and took the path founded by Imam Khomeini (Blessed is his secret), who has been described by the Egyptian intellect Muhammad Hassanein Heikal as such, "The Imam is a great man who has come from another era..."
In fact, independence and development represent two significant traits of the Republic and the revolutionary path as they go on. It is evident that the brilliant principles of many revolutions came to a dead end as their launchers reached the "paradise of authority". On the contrary, Imam Khomeini's Revolution has been sustained, growing mature with time; this is represented by the Islamic Republic's development on various levels, whereby the revolutionary effects on the interior and exterior levels haven's ceased, and the Republic has become a power regarded with awe by the regional and international policies. In other words, the Revolution is still going brilliantly. Thus, such brilliance has astounded many intellects and politicians who have praised the Revolution launcher (Imam Khomeini), whereby a Pakistani Prime Minister has said, "Not until long centuries will humanity witness leaders like the Imam." Besides, Professor Amine Carige, the Bosnic Minister of Education has said, "Imam Khomeini is the greatest religious chief the whole world witnessed in the twentieth century."
As a matter of fact, the Republic founded by the gone Imam has granted Iran a regarded power and an important position with respect to the international medium, and the Iranian path and conduct have attracted the Islamic peoples of the world, for this Republic has been founded on quite firm foundations, which have allowed the Republic sustenance and prosperity in spite of the dominant arrogant powers' attempts to abolish the Republic during its beginnings and to restrict it and get it denounced by the public opinion afterwards. The Expert in Iranian Affairs, Amir Moussawi, has told "Alintiqad", "Through his leading performance, Imam Khomeini laid three prime foundations for his revolution. The foundations, which have directly affected the victory and sustenance of the Revolution, are as such:
1- The perfect belief in God and dependence on Him
2- The mutual understanding between Imam Khomeini and his people: whereby they shared harmonized opinions. Therefore, everything the Imam suggested would be widely welcomed by all categories and confessions of his people.
3- The decision-making courage of the Imam and his capacity of withstanding any urgent interior or exterior developments and turmoil: Actually, we noticed this as the Imam practiced his leadership while in Iran or while in banishment in Turkey, Iraq, and France. A further piece of evidence of the Imam's withstanding was represented by his insistence on returning to Iran despite the fact that he had been threatened that his plane would be dropped; yet, this threat didn't even matter to him, and he returned to Tehran, leading the Revolution to victory."
Moreover, the Imam established a tight relation with the Islamic peoples as he expressed their purposes and expectations and supported their basic causes. In this context, Moussawi says, "Since the Revolution was based upon the standards of the holy Quran and the biographies of God's Messenger Muhammad and his Household (Peace be upon them), these standards were widely welcomed by the Arabic and Islamic Worlds. Also, since the gone Imam translated his stances into supporting the main Islamic, Arabic cause - the Palestinian cause, and since he stressed the idea that "the Zionist entity is a cancerous gland", he has become a role-model... Imam Khomeini strongly adopted such ideas and worked on their practical achievement. Thus, the Arabic and Islamic peoples were affected greatly.
The Expert in Iranian Affairs, Moussawi, has talked about the points of strength that the Imam's Revolution created in the international political medium. He has added that currently these points are still greatly brilliant and are growing steadily. He has pointed out the foundations that the Imam adopted to make Iran a central power in the international medium:
The Imam unveiled the regional Zionist and American schemes, and he widely exposed the American policies and confronted them, altering the "Israeli" Embassy into the Palestinian Embassy as soon as the Revolution achieved victory. Furthermore, the Imam struggled with the oppressors, refusing to make any complimentary concessions - whether on the local or international level. The Imam adopted an uncomplimentary policy to preserve the revolutionary foundations, too. Still, he supported the regional liberation moves and those of the Islamic and Arabic Worlds, employing the capacities and capabilities of the Islamic Republic to back the repressed peoples..."
Moussawi has concluded that "the foundation of the Islamic-Republic policy Imam Khomeini laid counters the hegemony in the whole Region, and this foundation has been present strongly ever since that time."
As for Dr. Hassan Abu Taleb, the Egyptian Expert in the Iranian affairs and the principle of "Alahram (the Pyramids) Center for Political and Strategic Studies", he sees that "what Imam Khomeini did was establishing a creedal state; this means this state wasn't founded on intellectual lack. Hence, this develops the sense of identity, self, and stance in comparison with the surrounding and international powers."
During his talk to "Alintiqad", Doctor Hassan Abu Taleb has added, "This creed is connected with a great religion that is Islam, and we all know that the Islamic communities affected the Western states only partially, whereby a gap existed between the communities' capabilities and their realistic effects on the international policies. This created the desire to search for a mechanism and mean to suit and connect their resources' size with their influential size, also to connect their influential size with their spread size. Consequently, the Imam made use of this desire to launch his Revolution, establish an Islamic power, and consolidate the Islamic powers by enhancing the idea of identity..."
The other point that Doctor Abu Taleb has pointed out is that "the existent confrontation with the arrogant powers of the world has been embodied by the Imam's ideas ever since the Revolution, particularly since the Iranian Constitution was constituted. Once we read this Constitution, we realize that there exists a tight connection between the idea of identity and the confrontation of arrogance, the expression of the Islamic Nation and the search for influence, and the Islamic Republic's work mechanisms as defined by the Constitution."
